Living In Hot Springs, Arkansas
Star Rating - 11/28/2007
I've lived here most of my life except for the time I was in the military. This is a retirement community, period! Don't come here unless you're comfortably retired, or are a professional such as a Doctor or Lawyer. Health care workers are always needed. If you can't earn a living otherwise, don't come here. It's a great "second home" for well off people. We have good location, good average year round weather, reasonable cost of living and health services. Public transportation lags, however. There is some handicapped transportation. Most of what you need is within about a ten to fifteen minute drive. Crime and drugs are a problem, but not quite yet out of control. People have to practice reasonable security. If you don't have kids, it's a much more attractive place. It takes a little longer to build up a support network here. We are a "green" state, enough rain, mild winters, mountains, plenty of trees. The local, county and state governments are fairly good, although on the somewhat more conservative side.
